vishwas: Centre approves ‘Y’ category security for Kumar Vishwas | India News

NEW DELHI: The Centre has approved Y category security cover for former AAP member Kumar Vishwas, days after he levelled serious allegations against AAP chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, about his voicing an intent to become ‘prime minister’ of a separate state of Punjab.
Sources told TOI that Y-category protection will be extended to Vishwas by CRPF on an all-India basis. It shall involve posting of around 7 personnel in the protectee’s detail, which includes 3 personal security officers (PSOs) to be deployed over 3 separate shifts in a day. A commanding officer and three static guards shall also be deployed at Vishwas’s residence 24×7, again on a rotational basis.
Vishwas’s threat perception was reviewed by the home ministry on Saturday in the light of the furore caused by his controversial claims regarding Kejriwal and AAP. While parties like BJP and Congress have used Vishwas’s statement to accuse Kejriwal of a separatist agenda, the AAP chief has rejected the charge saying that he was a “sweet terrorist” who “builds schools and hospitals and fixes electricity woes.”
Only on Friday, Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi had written to home minister Amit Shah, drawing his attention to an SFJ statement asking Punjab electors to vote for AAP and claiming that it had supported AAP in the 2017 assembly poll. He also raised Vishwas’s allegations and asked these to be probed and action taken. Shah, replying to him within hours, assured Channi that any attempt to break up Punjab or the country would not be tolerated and that he would ensure an in-depth probe into the Vishwas’s allegations as well as SFJ claims.
