Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar tied the knot in an intimate ceremony held today at Javed Akhtar’s farmhouse in Khandala. Apart from their immediate family members like Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar and Anusha Dandekar, those who graced the event included Hrithik Roshan, who arrived with parents Rakesh and Pinky Roshan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Rhea Chakraborty, Amrita Arora, Ritesh Sidhwani, Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Satish Shah, among others.
Bombay Times has some exclusive details of all that unfolded at the close-knit family affair. Farhan apparently made an entry to the tunes of Sooraj Ki Baahon Mein from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Proud papa and celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar weaved in the magic of words as he was heard reciting a sweet poem that he wrote for the happy couple.
Post the nuptials, guests hit the dance floor and swayed to the beats of Gallan Goodiyaan (Dil Dhadakne Do) and other peppy numbers. The newly married couple, Farhan and Shibani danced to John Legend’s All of Me — their first dance as man and wife. Bollywood’s popular musical trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy and their band sang Tum Ho Toh from Farhan starrer Rock On!! for the couple.
The wedding festivities commenced a few days ago with the mehendi and haldi ceremonies. The buzz is that the couple will also have a court marriage on February 21, following which they will host a reception for their celebrity friends.
Farhan’s family was understandably excited for the wedding. His mother and screenwriter Honey Irani told BT earlier, “Keeping COVID protocols in mind we have invited only limited guests. It was a tough task to chalk out the guestlist.”
Javed Akhtar had told us, “Shibani is a very nice girl. All of us like her very much. The most important thing is that she and Farhan get along very well, which is great.”
